Emily Dickinson
A Drop fell on the Apple Tree –
Another – on the Roof –
A Half a Dozen kissed the Eaves –
And made the Gables laugh –A few went out to help the Brook,
That went to help the Sea –
Myself Conjectured were they Pearls –
What Necklaces could be –The Dust replaced, in Hoisted Roads –
The Birds jocoser sung –
The Sunshine threw his Hat away –
The Bushes – spangles hung –The Breezes brought dejected Lutes –
And bathed them in the Glee –
The Orient put out a single Flag,
And signed the Fete away –
(A drop fell on the apple tree’ is sometimes known by the title ‘Summer Shower’, although Emily Dickinson (1830-86), famously, didn’t give titles to most of her poems. (It was Dickinson’s original editors, Mabel Loomis Todd and T. W. Higginson, who gave the poem the title by which it has become most familiar.)

Have a wonderful nature-filled week! Please be safe.
We’ve been having unusually cold weather recently too and after a very dry April, we’re now having a fair amount of rain.

Oh how I love your poetry , both Emily and Mary Mary over there on the right (fthat was like finding a hidden gem). I hope you do have some good books to read until your weather improves (and I do hope that is rather soon).
Hi,
We have also been having unusual weather for May. Rain and temps dropping into the 30′ at
night. The flowers are blooming here, so they must like this kind of weather. Awesome photo
of the sun and clouds. Have a great day!
Beautiful poetry and cloud photo!
Drove through lovely rain this past weekend while visiting family-up north-wonderful!
Wonderful poem, Michelle. We’ve been having unstable weather, but nevertheless, Autumn is here with us now.
PS: Thank you for hosting, Michelle!
