Introducing Yellow-Yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow will advance from surrounding colors and instill optimism and energy, as well as spark creative thoughts. This color relates to acquired knowledge. It is the color that resonates with the left or logic side of the brain stimulating our mental faculties and creating mental agility and perception. Being the lightest hue of the spectrum, the color psychology of yellow is uplifting and illuminating, offering hope, happiness, cheerfulness and fun. In the meaning of colors, yellow inspires original thought and inquisitiveness. Yellow is creative from a mental aspect, the color of new ideas, helping us to find new ways of doing things. It is the practical thinker, not the dreamer.

Yellow is the best color to create enthusiasm for life and can awaken greater confidence and optimism.

The color yellow loves a challenge, particularly a mental challenge.

How the color yellow affects us physically
  • Stimulates mental processes
  • Stimulates the nervous system
  • Activates memory
  • Encourages communication

75% of the pencils sold in the United States are painted yellow. Why?

Pencils have been painted yellow ever since the 1890s. And that bright color isn’t just so you can find them on your desk more easily!

During the 1800s, the best graphite in the world came from China. American pencil makers wanted a special way to tell people that their pencils contained Chinese graphite.

In China, the color yellow is associated with royalty and respect. American pencil manufacturers began painting their pencils bright yellow to communicate this ‘regal’ feeling and association with China.

Yellow and our sense of smell

  • “Lemon” was the original scent of the yellow-colored Magic Scents Crayons from Binney & Smith Inc., introduced in 1994 with mostly food scents. However, there were numerous reports that children were eating the food-scented crayons, so the food scents were retired and replaced with non-food scents. What it says about you when you buy a yellow vehicle

There is no question that the vehicle you drive is an extension of your personality — an unspoken, but clear message to the rest of the world. The message you send by driving a vehicle that is Sunshine Yellow:

  • Sunny disposition
  • Joyful
  • Young-at-heart

If, however, your vehicle is a Yellow-Gold, you give a different impression:

  • Intelligent
  • Warm
  • Loves comfort and will pay for it

  1. I did not know that about Green Lantern!! I had a yellow bedroom growing up because I loved it so much. Not a fan so much now….but maybe I need to rethink that, given all the happy traits it has for wellbeing!

  2. Yellow is my favorite color and now I know why! However, the color of my vehicle (or any of the ones we’ve ever owned) only means it was the cheapest one within our needs at the time )))….sadly, never yellow. Thank you for this fascinating information (which I just read out loud to “he who does not blog” and who also loved it). I am sending you a virtual bouquet of yellow roses gor your kitchen counter!

  3. This was such an interesting post, Michelle, as I never knew that the color yellow held so many attributes and meanings. I do like it and find it cheerful–most of my house interior is painted a very pale creamy yellow.
