Join Nature Notes Tuesday at 12:00 am EST to Friday at 11:00 pm EST. More information can be found at the top of the blog on a separate page, but it really is easy. What are you or have you seen and enjoyed in nature? It can be from your own backyard, the local park, out on a hike or anywhere. What plants and animals catch your interest? Do you garden? Have you read a good book on nature? Write a blog post with a photo, a story, a poem, anything goes because I love to see what Mother Nature is up to in your area. Please submit one blog post per week and link back to nature notes in some way.

Our weather is still going from bitter cold and snow to a somewhat warm-up and then to freezing rain and back to cold. The yard is an ice rink in parts and I have special coils that I put on my boots in order to walk with safety.. Well some safety anyway.
I wanted to thank the folks who link into Nature Notes and especially those who leave a comment. Nature Notes was never about seeing how many links I could get and that other bloggers would never read. Nature Notes is 7 1/2 years old and I started this blog in 2007. Blogging was always about the connections that I made with other bloggers. People I got to know and some for many years now. In the end we only have the friendships we have enjoyed and the people’s lives we have touched. I guess I am feeling a little sentimental with another birthday this coming week. Thank you to everyone for sharing a bit of your lives and love of nature with me….
“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”
I am missing the flowers in my garden…..and wildflowers across the pond…simple beauty in nature…Favorite photo.

Nature walks are wonderful. But you don’t have to travel to special location to enjoy Mother Nature. There is so much to see in your own neighborhood or even in your own back or front yard. Get a guide-book of the wildlife in your area and learn the calls of birds and frogs and toads. So many times I hear a bird that lets me know what I am looking for in the trees.</strong
Oh yes I love that quote and it is exactly why I love blogging …it isn’t always easy to find like-minded friends in real life. Thank you for your friendship and all you’ve taught me. And Happy Birthday when your day arrives. Yellow flowers are my favorites..,little spots of sunshine on earth.
Wonderful photos! Ps: Glad you like my song 🙂
I love this quote and it is so true. It’s how I feel about the friendships I have made over the years with fellow bloggers who share a similar passion. We are all connected in some way. Your photo of the butterfly on the goldenrod is lovely too. Thank you for hosting and keeping us all connected!
we actually had 4 inches of snow in our desert climate-shock but interesting change…
Believe it or not, in the last few weeks we had 14+ inches of snow, and several power outages – am not even counting the days of rain. It’s distracting -but of course nothing like where you live! Stay warm and safe!
You too… Not a fun winter
To continue in C.S. Lewis’ line:):)
Hi Michelle, i agree with you about blogging and friendships. I also treasure my blogger friends, just like you! I notice sometimes that one or two of the bloggers just stop posting, and i was worried of what might have happened to them, especially when i know they are sick. Once, i asked someone who was from the same place, and when she doesn’t know either, i just prayed for the person. My heart was with them.
About blogging, i started in 2008 and it is already a part of my adult life. I sometimes stopped posting, but resume posting again. Re: your winter, i am glad i didn’t choose cold country in this lifetime, i might not be able to live with it. Although i find my temperatures too hot and humid, but i guess this is my choice. Thanks for your friendship.
Happy Birthday, Michelle. May you have many happy returns of your special day. Blogging certainly makes birds of a feather flock together and expands one’s horizons. Lovely photos today, as always!
Although I am SO ALLERGIC to Goldenrod, it is wonderful to THINK YELLOW!…:)JP
Wonderful bright yellow flowers and the matching butterfly!
