Restless It is that perennial immateriality dwelling between living and dying….

Restless
It is that perennial immateriality dwelling between living and dying
crouched in the corners and grappling by the hinges
only to remain unseen;
We weave our web of what we believe we understand
of the relationship of our acts and events
only to remain misunderstood;
From that odd wisp of steam of heated discussions
to the urgent hiss of a new page calling;
I teeter on that thin ice –
That single space of uncertainty –
And I ask
“What am I doing here?”.

  1. Hi Michelle, Your posting has hit the nail on the head. The line ” From that odd wisp of steam of heated discussions, to the urgent hiss of a new page calling; I teeter on that thin ice –
    Dayum, that’s so true and powerful! I’m finding more and more I have to turn the news off. We’re bombarded with so many tweets and posts and video’s that I say enough! I use to read comments on news sites but even that has turned in to a battleground; a battleground of insults, arguments and nastiness tossed about waiting for yet another thread. I don’t need that in my life as I’m sure most would agree. Thank you for stating the insanity of it all. 🙂

  2. Oh Michelle! We are all asking such questions …. these days are hard. I still try to keep my blog my happy place … doing that reminds me to think about the good things in this life.

  3. Hi Michelle, i have not come here for the past two weeks, now i am a bit baffled. How are you my friend? I hope everything is going well with you there. Best regards.

  4. I can only speculate about why you might have chosen this poem, but if you are asking yourself if you have purpose and if you can help, I say “Don’t give up.” In these times we have to strive on, or surely those with less strength will give in, and that will be our undoing.

  5. I choose a poem that fits my mood and find a photo that also fits. This was a hard week here watching what went on in our US Senate and the memories that it brought back for me personally. I may never have told my husband about a something that happened to be decades ago had it not been the Supreme Court Nominee. I don’t know when we have ever sunk this low is our political discourse. 24% of the country are controlling the rest of us and they yell and scream and threaten violence and show themselves to be hateful bigots while claiming they are religious. Someone who is pregnant told me that she hopes the baby is a boy because it is easier to be a white male now. I am emotionally spent that’s all. I have to remember that over 75% will work hard to make things right again. Most Americans are loving, tolerant, welcoming people, not the red hat wearing misfits that stand behind the President at his rallies of hate.

  6. I can fully relate with you Michelle, as you might probably see/hear on the news about us here in the Philippines, we are experiencing the worst too. And lots of people killed because of supposedly “war on drugs”, inflation rising to unprecented rates of 6.7%,. the less privilege suffer most, they don’t eat and they die. OMG what is happening to the world! …Andrea
